Chapter 12: Cypress Harbor Marriott (Orlando), Florida

The Marriot was a welcome change from camping, although this is not meant to detract from the great fun we have had in the trailer. The two bedroom resort, with living room, kitchen, family room, and washer/dryer is just a bit upscale from the trailer (though we did buy a really good trailer .. not a fair competition).

The scenery out of our back (screened in) porch looked like this:

A typical scene, Reba 'addicted' to her Star Trek books. She has become one of the world's biggest fans and most voracious readers of Star Trek books in the galaxy (this shot doubles as a picture of the fold-out couch in the living room):

We had a nice trip in to Disney's (relatively new theme park) Animal Kingdom. Here is a shot of one of their more famous shows, the Lion King:

Near the end of our Marriott stay David, Heather Lynn, Dan, and James took a trip to the "NFL Experience" at Disney's All Star Sports park. Here is a real action shot of Jim punting an authentical NFL-sized football:

One of our surprises was the size of the ball - these are not little nerf-sized balls! Another surprise was David's when he decided to just run right through one of those hanging 'men' (big, heavy sacks hanging down that probably weigh around 300 pounds!) in the act-like-a-quarterback speed run. David also found out that the astro turf that they put in the NFL Experience is rougher than the real stuff. Not too much blood loss (just a bad abrasion, really), but it did include a trip later on to First Aid. Here the group of us are (check out David's knee) in front of the All Star Cafe (had a 'little something' to recover from the 'Experience'). Those NFL guys make it look easy .. but it really is NOT easy!

Here is a quiz question (look at above picture). The four of us walked into the NFL Experience and the attendant asked us which NFL team we liked the best. It was awfully difficult not to say 'duuuh'. We didn't and let him know that it is, of course, the Minnesota Vikings (yeah, yeah, to all you out there, it still hurts! I am referring the results of the playoff game against Atlanta, for those of you who do not follow the sport).

And finally here is a 'posed' shot of the sisters on the boardwalk (overlooking the water) at the Cypress Harbor Marriott Resort in Orlando. This picture was actually taken with a digital camera that was included in the room. The 'developing' of the pictures was, of course, not included. It is actually quite a good idea, if we would have gotten it working sooner, we might have done a bit better (we had trouble using it at the beginning and it was not trouble shooted to perfection until we only had a couple days left). We were able to get a bunch of postcards of the two sisters (individually and together) as well as a CD of all shots we took while there.
