Chapter 21: Fort Stockton KOA, Texas

Now to the windy city of Fort Stockton, Texas. We are talking about a lot of plains and a few neat, surrounding hills. A beautiful view. The campground is really intended as a stop along the way, however, it has probably the nicest bathrooms (private!) of any we have seen (or probably will see). There is also a pool (not operational .. we are out of season, still). There is a nightly movie, too! They were playing the Tom Cruise movie, "Jerry Maguire" .. 'show me the money'. Most of us watched it and had fun. Pam, however, found the room it was playing in a bit 'funny' smelling, and besides she had a lot of laundry to do (a mom's work is never done, sigh). This was also a great spot to get caught up on e-mail (since they had a modem port in the laundry room).

We had a great experience there, even though it was only a one night stopover. Here is our good, new trailer at the site:

As it turns out, Fort Stockton, is a very neat, quaint little city. We toured the city on the way out and stopped at the world's largest roadrunner, Paisano Pete. Here the kids decide to take Pete for a ride:

Oh, lest you forget what the real thing looks like:

Time to head on to our next spot, Brantley Lake State Park, in southeastern New Mexico, where we were first to see those roadrunners in the wild!
